So....I was playing around on the internet when I really should have been working and came across this awesome quiz.

I think it just about sums up my current WIP.

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Abigail McKenley and I am a Smut Writer.

Twenty Years Ago...

I was twelve when my mother caught me with Hollywood Wives, a Jackie Collins classic. Needless to say, once that book was confiscated, it was replaced with very my own stack of Silhouettes. I've been hooked on romance novels ever since.

Harlequin is now sixty years old. To celebrate, they are offering sixten FREE downloads to their readers. Check it out here...

Thanks for the heads up Katie!

Saying No

My friend Jax Cassidy recently wrote about getting on schedule. I've been trying to do the same. However, the more I schedule my time, is the more I find myself veering away from my planned direction.

How is it that I can make all the time in the world to write and find that I suddenly have no time at all to do it?

I need to learn how to say NO.

Today I make a vow. Abigail McKenley is going to start saying NO more often.

I'm sorry, but I need to make my writing a priority and I've got books to turn in.

How is everyone else doing with saying NO?

Baby its cold outside

Central Florida has been going through a cold spell these last couple of days. Last night temps dropped down to 27 degrees and today the high in my area only reached about 40.

Now don't get me wrong...I know that I've got some friends out there braving even more brutal temps, but this little island girl is not happy about having to pull out the scarves and gloves.

In other news, the weather has forced me to stay inside so I've managed to make decent headway on my new WIP.

How have you all been?

Everything you ever needed to know about Epublishing.

Angela James, editor extraordinaire, is coming to Romance Divas for a 3 day class on Epublishing! Come join us Jan 13-15 and ask her anything.

Everything You Ever Needed to Know About Epublishing (and some things you didn't know you should know)

Why doesn't epublishing offer advances? What are some of the pros and cons of publishing my manuscript via epublishing? How do I research publishers? Can I really make money in epublishing? What exactly is POD? Can you give me a snappy comeback for people who say that epublishing isn't real publishing?

Epublishing has evolved and grown, especially in the last 5 years, but with growth comes pitfalls and problems, and trusting an epublisher with your baby might seem like a risky proposition. We'll cover the basics of epublishing, from choosing an epublisher and contract details to methods of ebook and print distribution to reasons why you might not want to epublish your manuscript.

Bio:

In 2005, Angela James joined Samhain Publishing, Ltd, a small press company focusing on digital publishing, as its executive editor, where she has played an instrumental role in building the company from the ground up. In her executive position at Samhain, Angela is responsible for managing the publisher's editorial services division. Her responsibilities include the management of editorial staff, quality oversight, networking and marketing efforts at regional, national and international writing conferences to promote the electronic publishing industry as well as Samhain.

In addition to her administrative duties, Angela continues to edit more than 50 authors including national bestselling authors Lucy Monroe, Lilith Saintcrow and Deidre Knight.

Thank God its Monday!

Last week was a tough one here in sunny Central Florida.

My son is still sick with a nasty cough that has progressed into a pretty bad earache. As soon as he wakes up I'm toting him to the Doctor for meds.

On Saturday, my husband had the sad task of watching as they put his beloved cat Sammy to sleep. Sammy was eighteen years old and has been battling kidney disease. DH is still pretty broken up about it and I am hurting for him and the rest of his family.

In writing news...with everything going on around me, I still managed to make progress on my new manuscript and complete my edits for my contracted book. I'm on my way to making my writing goal for the year!

Here's to a great week everyone!

2009 is mine!

OK...Like most people, I've got resolutions. Yes, I make them every year, but this time I intend to stick to them. I'm putting them out of my head and out on this blog because I figure that if I put them out into the open, I won't have a choice but to do them!

(1) Live my life to the fullest.

(2) Go the the gym at least 5 times a week.

(3) Finish the two new books I started in 2008 and write three more.

(4) Deliver all five books to my agent.

(5) Fly home to see my parents.

(6) Cherish the friends I have because real friends are hard to come by in this business.

(7) Be a better person in 2009 than I was in 2008.

(8) Have the best year ever with my two favorite men!

(9) Write regularly on this blog. :)
